In the spring of 1945 a cadre of German technical specialists, embassy attachs, and stranded naval
personnel watched the dying throes of their homeland from Japan. As they watched their cities burn
under the aerial assault of Allied bombers, the German expatriates gathered together in Kamakura to
suffer a shared anguish with fellow countrymen.

Well suited to host European guests, Kamakura was spared the bombing which so many areas of Japan
were then experiencing. Like Kyoto, the USAAF ruled it an important cultural center to be spared from
destruction. Because of this, as well as its proximity to Tokyo, Kamakura was selected as the
disembarking base for technology transfers which were arriving from Germany. Here in a vast
underground complex, the Me-262, HS-293, advanced radar sets, V rocket engines, and other U-boat
and I-boat deliveries could be sequestered for study and reverse engineering.

Stranded U-boat and surface raider crews, military liaison officers, and redundant embassy personnel
soon gravitated to the nucleus of German technical specialists which had arrived in Kamakura with their
precious cargo. Such an important activity required security forces which the largess of German military
personnel easily provided. Armed with prototype Tiger tanks and the dreaded 88 flak guns manufactured
by Japanese factories to German blueprints, these security forces trained to fever pitch, for such training
helped distract their minds from the frightful news of the homeland then reaching Japan.

Meanwhile rumors of the Japanese I-boats and German U-boat deliveries reached Allied intelligence. A
daring raid was planned, utilizing Allied submarines to land a crack team of special forces on the coast.
This unit would march overland in the early morning hours and strike the Kamakura complex at dawn:
If all went well the temples and other cultural icons would be unharmed but the Japanese war effort would
be dealt a mortal blow.

Welcome to Kamakura! Join the battle as German and Allied forces vie for dominance among a temple,
castle, and Edo-period village in Japan.
